I’ve decided that for my own sanity I’m going to resist (as much as possible) the big wooden picture books. I’m getting really tired of looking for the number 3 that is ALWAYS hiding behind big bird’s tail. ALWAYS. So now I’m going to turn off all the lights in the room, except for one reading light pointed over my shoulder, have all the girls lying down in one bed, and I’m going to read them stories that are well written and engaging for all of us.

It’s the first day of school and Nina had 5 different outfits all neatly laid out to choose from. It seriously starts this early?

Longboarding is my new favourite past time. Although I never get to do it because there are precious few hills in Ottawa and precious too many kids.

Usually the kids get to pick what treat they get for breakfast in bed on their birthday. It’s either Cinnabon ™ or Cupcakes. Nina picked Cupcakes. Usually that involves a cake mix and a can of Betty Crocker ™ icing. Usually it can be done in under an hour in the silence of the night when the cherubs are fast asleep and daddy can relax and enjoy the quiet of the night. Usually.

We had a visit from one of Sheyna’s Aunts. Sheyna’s mom made the most excellent biryani in the history of biryani (as per usual – never missing a single saffron beat) and the girls ate their hotdogs (when will they learn to eat the good food!!!) in the backyard.

After three and a half (okay I exaggerated by 2 days on the half, but seriously, 2 days over 3 week qualifies in my books). Clean skinned and happy faces, we’re back together. This video (like the previous day 18 boring rant) is a bit late in the posting, but give me a break people. You’re not even watching this right now, so let’s give a gander a goose egg and call it even.

Yes Sheyna has been home over 2 weeks now. Yes I got lazy in the remaining days of her absence. Yes there are a couple more pre-sheyna-comes-home videos to cut and post (oh, cut and post I like that), yes this is a long drawn out slow rant to nowhere. Yes it is video. Yes I posted it. Yes you are now reading what I wrote about it. No, you probably won’t watch it. No, you definitely won’t make a comment on it. I’ll know if you do. Yes, I’ll know if you do.

Canada Day was a thrilling ride of Merry-Go-Rounds, Trains and Swings. Mix in a couple blue slushee’s, some french fries and a bag of icky, sticky cotton candy and you’ve got yourself a beautiful day in the park.
